Of Counsel Brownsville, Texas

Of Counsel
Brownsville, Texas

J. Arnold Aguilar

Arnold was born and raised in Corpus Christi, but once he moved down to the Rio Grande Valley after law school to clerk for two federal magistrates in 1985, he “drank the water” and never left. Though he maintains ties to Corpus, over the past 28 years his practice has been centered in the Valley, where he has represented practically every city from Brownsville to Roma. Arnold has been active in the Cameron County Bar Association and the State Bar of Texas, where he represented the Valley as a District Director from 2008 – 2011. He continues to serve on several committees, including the Pattern Jury Charge Oversight Committee, and he is the Rio Grande Valley Chapter President of the American Board of Trial Advocates.

Arnold primarily represents governmental entities in civil rights, law enforcement and employment matters, though he also represents several major corporations in the defense of large trucking accidents, and he is a frequent speaker on issues related to the defense of entities. In addition to having successfully tried several significant civil rights and employment cases to verdict, Arnold has also won numerous appellate decisions before the Texas Supreme Court and the federal Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals. He is Board Certified in Personal Injury Trial Law, is AV rated, was awarded a Texas Center for Professionalism Award in 2006, and was a Thomson Reuters Super Lawyer in 2012. In his spare time, he enjoys making furniture from mesquite wood grown locally.
