Crespo v. Karam
Venue: United States District Court, Southern District, Brownsville
Verdict: Defense verdict
Type of Case: Auto Accident
Parties Represented: Alejandro Karam
On June 15, 2012, plaintiff Pamela Crespo, a 44-year-old insurance agent, was driving a Volkswagen Jetta on FM 802 in Brownsville when she was involved in a rear end collision with a car driven by Alejandro Karam, a Mexican citizen.
Crespo sued Karam, claiming negligence. Crespo claimed she had slowed and come to a stop due to traffic when Karam failed to keep a proper lookout or control his speed and collided with the rear of her car.
Karam denied negligence. Defense counsel maintained Crespo came toa sudden stop and Karam had no time to avoid the collision.
The Jury found that the Plaintiff was 80% negligent and did not award any damages.
